La Marmotte is one of the most legendary and challenging amateur cycling events in the world, held every summer in the French Alps. Covering over 170 kilometers and more than 5,000 meters of climbing, the route includes iconic climbs such as the Col du Glandon, Col du Galibier, and the final ascent to Alpe d’Huez. Each year, around 7,500 riders from across the globe take part, making it a true bucket-list event for passionate cyclists.
Joining La Marmotte with the Maats Membership community is a unique opportunity to take on this epic challenge together — sharing the preparation, the excitement, and the satisfaction of crossing the finish line as a team. From our member survey, we learned that many of you are looking for a more competitive and ambitious cycling experience, and this trip perfectly capture this spirit. Here it is.
The Package
From arrival to finish line — everything is taken care of. During the days leading up to La Marmotte, you’ll stay in a comfortable hotel perfectly located for both rest and recon rides. Together we’ll explore key sections of the route, so you’ll know exactly what to expect when the big day comes.
On race day itself, everything is arranged for you. Your La Marmotte entry is included in your Maats Travels package, so there’s no need to arrange anything yourself — we’ll take care of it for all 20 participants. To make sure every rider gets the full La Marmotte experience, our on-route support is also included. You’ll have access to three well-stocked feed zones along the course, offering nutrition, drinks, and your personal gear when you need it most
Rides
The week will be all about getting ready for the big day — La Marmotte on Sunday. In the days leading up to the event, we’ll ride parts of the official course to get familiar with the key climbs and descents, helping you prepare both physically and mentally for race day.
Two days before the event, we’ll take it easier to recover and rest up, though there will still be the option for relaxed coffee rides to keep the legs spinning. The balance between recon rides, recovery, and group moments will make this week not just great preparation, but also an unforgettable cycling experience together with the Maats community.
Our Stay
We’ve found an even better accommodation option for our trip! A beautiful hotel in Villard Reculas named Demeure Sauvage. The hotel has 10 twin rooms (with separate beds) for 20 people. It’s newly renovated in a charming chalet style, with a sunny terrace and stunning mountain views, located right on the scenic road to Alpe d’Huez where you’ll see cyclists passing by every day.
The hotel will be reserved exclusively for our group and offers a half-board arrangement with breakfast and dinner included. It’s a perfect base for our cycling adventure!
